my ghost story (:

One night when I was 12, I had just come in from playing with my friends. My mama had told me to go brush my teeth and go to sleep, so like a good girl I did. After being asleep for awhile, a strange noise coming from the mirror at the foot of my bed woke me up. I opened my eyes and didn’t see anything at first, so I closed them thinking I had been dreaming. What happened next never left the back of my mind. I heard the noise again, and this time I sat up. As I sat up in bed, it seemed like something in the mirror had sat up to, only it wasn't me. What I saw next was crazy. I saw a man who looked in his mid 40’s with red skin, dark brown horns like an animal, eyes at least two times the size of a normal man's, pure yellow, and they had black slits down the middle. The only thing worse than the eyes was the smile: its teeth were at least half an inch and each one came to a point.

I stared for a minute, and his smile got wider and bigger. I didn’t move at all, I was too scared. He pointed to me, and he began to talk even though I never saw his mouth move. What he said to me was simple: "I'm here for you now." As soon as I heard that, I screamed for my mama. I heard her coming from her room and down the hall, but I still heard this man speaking to me with a deep grumbling voice. My mama turned on the light, and as soon as she did the man was gone.

It has been eight years now, and I still think about that night all time. But I haven’t thought about it as hard as I did a week ago. I woke up at 3 a.m. to the sound of my backpack shaking like crazy. I sat up straight in my bed and I saw the same figure in my mirror again! At first I thought I was dreaming. I blinked hoping it would go away, and it did. The backpack was still shaking though. I crept to the edge of my bed and as soon as I looked at it, it stopped.

I can't explain what I was visited or threatened by. What happened those nights I will never be able to explain? My mama still thinks I was dreaming, but I haven't told her about the most recent time.
